What do children do at Forest School?
Our Forest School follows place-based learning, learning from the tools and wonders of nature. By immersing children in nature, they become more attune to the changes, behaviors, and relationships that each living and nonliving thing demonstrates throughout the seasons.
Our curriculum enhances this by having students learn about Colorado's ecosystems, people, and landscapes. Students spend a portion of their day learning skills through observation, bushcraft, and peer relationships.

Outdoor learning is a way to get children learn problem solving through play, independence, and empathy. Our community welcomes all types of learners from all backgrounds to experience the joy of building their foundational skills in nature.
Our Story
This program was designed to grow the movement of outdoor education in Colorado. Founder and Executive Director Lia Franciotti discovered this movement whilst in her graduate program for conservation at Miami University's Advanced Inquiry Program in partnership with the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance.
As a public school teacher and a mother to two young children, Lia wanted to create a space that challenged students to ask questions, grow connection, and become stewards of nature through the UK's and Scandinavian Forest School model.

This program was thoughtfully created using scientific research and peer-reviewed resources to ensure students are learning factual information in the ways that are proven children learn best.
